BACKGROUND: Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) is a rare, acute, life-threatening disorder, associated with a deficiency in ADAMTS 13. The majority of acute, idiopathic, adult TTP cases are associated with anti-ADAMTS 13 IgG antibodies.
