Galactitol dehydrogenase (GatDH) from Rhodobacter sphaeroides is a multifunctional enzyme that catalyzes in the presence of oxidized beta-nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD(+)) the interconversion of various multivalent aliphatic alcohols to the corresponding ketones.
