The Salmonella typhimurium aroF gene, encoding the tyrosine-sensitive 3-deoxy-D-arabino-heptulosonate 7-phosphate (DAHP) synthase, was localized to a chromosomal PstI fragment by Southern blotting with an Escherichia coli aroF probe.
