Therapy-related acute myeloid leukemia (t-AML) is a rare but fatal complication of cytotoxic therapy. Whereas sporadic cancer results from interactions between complex exposures and low-penetrance alleles, t-AML results from an acute exposure to a limited number of potent genotoxins.
