OBJECTIVES: Aim of this study was to evaluate prevalence and characteristics of cholelithiasis in a large population of patients with thalassemia major (TM). METHODS: Data from 858 consecutive patients with transfusion-dependent thalassemia at five major Italian centers were analyzed.
