Asporin is an extracellular matrix protein that belongs to the small leucine-rich repeat proteoglycan (SLRP) family of proteins. It is unique among SLRPs in that it lacks a glycosaminoglycan attachment site and contains an asparatic acid (D) repeat at its amino terminus.
