INTRODUCTION: Platelet-activating factor acetylhydrolase (PAF-AH or Lp-PLA(2)) is a Ca(2+)-independent phospholipase A(2) primarily associated in plasma with low density lipoproteins (LDL), especially with small dense LDL (sdLDL) particles.
