BACKGROUND: Leukemias are dependent on Akt/NF-kappaB activation and angiogenesis. METHODS: The antiangiogenic Akt/NF-kappaB inhibitor xanthohumol (XN) has in vitro activity against acute and chronic myelogenous leukemia cell lines (AML, CML) and fresh samples from patients were investigated.
