Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is a cardiac disease characterized by left ventricular hypertrophy with diastolic dysfunction. Molecular genetic studies have revealed that HCM is caused by mutations in genes for sarcomere/Z-band components including titin/connectin and its associate proteins.
