Gene therapy with adenoviral vectors is a promising new approach for the treatment of refractory advanced breast cancer. Strategies to restrict adenoviral-mediated therapeutic gene expression are important to avoid harming normal cells. Fatty acid synthase (FAS) is overexpressed in several human cancers.
