Calmodulin (CaM) is a Ca2+ signal transducing protein that binds and activates many cellular enzymes with physiological relevance, including the mammalian nitric oxide synthase (NOS) isozymes: endothelial NOS (eNOS), neuronal NOS (nNOS), and inducible NOS (iNOS).
