BACKGROUND: Nitric oxide (NO) is a multifunctional molecule that is produced by both neuronal NO synthase (nNOS) and inducible NO synthase (iNOS), and the expression of nNOS and iNOS is up-regulated in various cancer cells, including cutaneous melanoma (CM).
