Glucocorticoids exert diverse physiological functions through transcriptional regulation of genes including granzyme A (GZMA). GZMA is one of the apoptotic effectors localized in cytotoxic T lymphocytes and is considered to mediate glucocorticoid-induced apoptosis of human leukemia 697 cells.
