OBJECTIVES: Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) comprises a heterogeneous group of at least two types of disease entities characterized by distinctive clinical, immunophenotypical and genetic features. The molecular mechanisms underlying the pathogenesis and the histological transformation of CLL are not well known.
