The incidence of lung adenocarcinoma (AC) has been increasing over recent decades. The tobacco carcinogen 4-(methylnitrosamino)-1-(3-pyridyl)-1-butanone (NNK) is one of the most potent carcinogens and reproducibly induces a high incidence of lung AC in laboratory animals.
