PURPOSE: Mutations in the fibroblast growth factor receptor 3 (FGFR3) occur in 50% of primary bladder tumors. An FGFR3 mutation is associated with good prognosis, illustrated by significantly lower percentage of patients with progression and disease-specific mortality.
