New iodoacetamide derivatives, containing a dodecyl or a squalenyl moiety, were synthesized. The effect of these new thiol-reacting molecules was studied on two mutants of Alicyclobacillus acidocaldarius squalene-hopene cyclase constructed especially for this purpose.
