Production of NADPH in Saccharomyces cerevisiae cells grown on glucose has been attributed to glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (Zwf1p) and a cytosolic aldehyde dehydrogenase (Ald6p) (Grabowska, D., and Chelstowska, A.
