Conversion of uridines into pseudouridines (Psis) is the most frequent base modification in ribosomal RNAs (rRNAs). In eukaryotes, the pseudouridylation sites are specified by base-pairing with specific target sequences within H/ACA small nucleolar RNAs (snoRNAs).
