Oxidative DNA damage, caused by either endogenous or exogenous sources of reactive oxygen species (ROS), has been linked to aging, chronic degenerative diseases, inflammatory diseases and cancers. 8-Hydroxydeoxyguanine (8-OHdG) is a major lesion produced by ROS.
