Cytochrome 2D6 catalyzes oxidation processes of many antidepressants (TCAs, SSRIs, maprotyline, mianserine, nefazodon, trazodon, venlafaxine). CYP2D6 is characterized by genetically determined polymorphism which may lead to serious clinical consequences.
