In the lipolytic yeast Yarrowia lipolytica, the LIP2 gene was previously reported to encode an extracellular lipase. The growth of a Deltalip2 strain on triglycerides as sole carbon source suggest an alternative pathway for triglycerides utilisation in this yeast.
