Insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-I) plays an important role in prostate growth, hyperplasia, and carcinogenesis. Circulating IGF-I levels may be modulated by a genetic cytosine-adenine (CA) repeat polymorphism in the promoter region of IGF-I.
