OBJECTIVE: Doxepin is a tricyclic antidepressant formulated as a mixture of E-(trans) and Z-(cis) stereoisomers. Cytochrome P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) catalyzes the hydroxylation of E-doxepin and E-N-desmethyldoxepin stereospecically.
