Cryptococcus neoformans var. neoformans ura5 mutants were transformed with linearized or circular plasmids containing the C. neoformans orotidine monophosphate pyrophosphorylase gene. Following electroporation, randomly isolated transformants were analyzed for the mitotic and meiotic stability of uracil prototrophy.
