Abstract excerpt
GABA(A) receptors are responsible for fast inhibitory neurotransmission in the mammalian brain and are the targets for many clinical drugs that act as antiepileptics, anxiolytics, and sedatives. The pharmacological characteristics of the receptor are largely determined by its subunit composition.
