1,25-Dihydroxyvitamin D3 suppresses the growth of multiple human cancer cell lines by inhibiting cell cycle progression and inducing cell death. The present study showed that 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 causes cell cycle arrest at the G2/M transition through p53-independent induction of GADD45 in ovarian cancer cells.
