The myristylated v-fos product, FBR murine sarcoma virus (Gag-Fos) protein, exhibits a lower level of transrepression of the serum response element (SRE) than does c-fos protein (Fos). Mutation of the N-terminal myristylation site in FBR protein restored SRE transrepression.
