Glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored proteins exit the ER in distinct vesicles from other secretory proteins, and this sorting event requires the Rab GTPase Ypt1p, tethering factors Uso1p, and the conserved oligomeric Golgi complex.
