3'-Phosphoadenosine 5'-phosphosulfate (PAPS) is the high-energy "sulfate donor" for reactions catalyzed by sulfotransferase (SULT) enzymes. The strict requirement of SULTs for PAPS suggests that PAPS synthesis might influence the rate of sulfate conjugation.
