1alpha,25-Dihydroxyvitamin D(3)(1alpha,25(OH)(2)D(3)), the active metabolite of vitamin D(3), mediates anti-proliferative effects in cells by regulating the expression of 1alpha,25(OH)(2)D(3)-responsive genes.
