BACKGROUND: In syncytial blastoderm Drosophila embryos, actin caps assemble during telophase. As the cell cycle progresses through interphase, these small caps expand and fuse to form pseudocleavage furrows that are structurally related to the cleavage furrows that assemble during somatic cell division.
