After isoprenylation, the Ras proteins and other CAAX proteins undergo two additional enzymatic modifications-endoproteolytic release of the last three amino acids of the protein by the protease Rce1 and methylation of the carboxyl-terminal isoprenylcysteine by the methyltransferase Icmt.
