BACKGROUND: CCK is a satiety neuropeptide. Animal studies have shown that both acute and chronic exposure to nicotine results in weight loss which is associated with an increase in hypothalamic CCK and that CCK antagonists ameliorate symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.
