The epithelial Na+ channel (ENaC) absorbs Na+ across the apical membrane of epithelia. The activity of ENaC is controlled by its interaction with Nedd4; mutations that disrupt this interaction increase Na+ absorption, causing an inherited form of hypertension (Liddle's syndrome).
