Epithelial Na(+) absorption is regulated by Nedd4-2, an E3 ubiquitin ligase that reduces expression of the epithelial Na(+) channel (ENaC) at the cell surface. Defects in this regulation cause Liddle syndrome, an inherited form of hypertension.
