Tyrosine phenol-lyase (Tpl), which can synthesize 3, 4-dihydroxyphenylalanine from pyruvate, ammonia, and catechol, is a tyrosine-inducible enzyme. Previous studies demonstrated that the tpl promoter of Erwinia herbicola is activated by the TyrR protein of Escherichia coli.
