PPP1R3 (protein phosphatase 1, regulatory subunit 3) is a candidate tumor suppressor gene at chromosome 7q31, since nonsense and missense mutations of the PPP1R3 gene have been detected in a variety of human cancers. Loss of chromosome 7q is a recurrent abnormality in hematological malignancies, especially of myeloid lineage, and a common region of 7q deletions has been mapped to 7q31.
