<h4>ABSTRACT</h4> In sickle cell disease (SCD), the red blood cells carry a mutated form of hemoglobin (HbS) leading to altered shape and deformability. The mutation causes abnormal hemorheological properties, mechanical hemolysis, and adhesion.
