Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is a particularly lethal malignancy with high rates of cachexia. Serum activin correlates with PDAC cachexia and mortality, while activin administration causes cachexia in mice. We studied activin in human tumors and in mice with orthotopic or genetic PDAC.
