<h4>ABSTRACT</h4> The pathogenic bacterium Vibrio cholerae is native to seawater and can therefore be cultivated in nutrient media with increased salt concentration. To maintain osmotic balance, V. cholerae uses Na + /H + antiporters and an Na + -translocating NADH:quinone oxidoreductase (Na + -NQR).
