Mutants of wild-type Streptococcus pneumoniae IID553 with mutations in parC were obtained by selection with trovafloxacin, levofloxacin, norfloxacin, and ciprofloxacin. All of the parC mutants were cross-resistant to the selecting agents but were not resistant to gatifloxacin and sparfloxacin.
