The thymidine kinase locus (Tk1) in Tk(+/-)-3.7.2C mouse lymphoma cells is widely used to identify mutagenic agents. Because Trp53 (the mouse homolog of human TP53) is located with Tk1 on chromosome 11 and is critical in regulating cellular responses following exposure to DNA damaging agents, we wanted to determine if these mouse lymphoma cells harbor mutations in Trp53.
