The fifth allele, DNASE1*5, of human deoxyribonuclease I (DNase I) has been discovered. Polymerase chain reaction fragments containing exon 5 of the DNase I gene were screened for DNA polymorphism using single-strand conformation polymorphism (SSCP) analysis.
