The effect of the allosteric regulator fructose-2,6-bisphosphate (F2,6bP) on the regulation of carbohydrate metabolism was investigated in vivo with Saccharomyces cerevisiae mutants containing no, very high or unregulated 6-phosphofructo-2-kinase activity.
