OBJECTIVE: HLA class II encoded factors may influence the phenotype of ankylosing spondylitis (AS). These include HLA DRB1*07 for peripheral arthritis, and polymorphism of the HLA-linked LMP2 locus and HLA DRB1*08 for acute anterior uveitis (AAU).
