Cyclodiene insecticide resistance has accounted for over 60% of reported cases of insecticide resistance. In Drosophila melanogaster resistance is associated with a single base pair substitution in the GABA receptor/chloride ion channel gene Rdl. This substitution predicts the replacement of an alanine with a serine in the second membrane spanning domain, the region thought to line the chloride ion channel pore....
