Yersinia pseudotuberculosis inv mutant strains cured of the virulence plasmid exhibit thermoinducible adhesion to cultured mammalian cells. To identify the genes responsible for this phenotype, Y. pseudotuberculosis homologs of the Y. enterocolitica ail and the Y. pestis psa loci were identified.
