Cells of an unusual Paramecium bursaria stock (Sj2) expressed rhythmic mating reactivity in a light/dark cycle (LD) and under continuous illumination (LL). When placed in continuous darkness (DD), did not show rhythmicity but rather demonstrated a continuous high mating reactivity.
