To reveal immunogenetic factors involved in the pathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis(RA), two hundreds and four unrelated Japanese patients with RA were typed for HLA by both serologic typing and DNA typing using polymerase chain reaction-sequence specific oligonucleotide probe (PCR-SSOP) method.
